Ah, the joy of placing orders, and especially the big ones composed of Tier 1 Vendors! You place an order with your favorite distribution partner (TD SYNNEX of course), and you congratulate yourself on obtaining such a large order. Terrific! You’ve met your goals for the month or quarter. But wait! Were there any additional opportunities, accessories, or peripherals that would have paired well with the products in the order?  And most importantly will the customer be buying these additional necessary items from you?

When life gets busy, it seems easiest to order only the items a customer has asked for in an effort to get an order placed and out the door. But what if there are potential concerns your customer may not have thought of, but would appreciate learning about additional options to help them streamline or protect their business?  It’s a terrific opportunity to act as a consultant, grow your influence with your customers, educating them about options available to help them make the best decision for their individual operation.

And as an added benefit, your ability to provide an even higher level of service to your customers by asking some simple questions before finalizing your customers’ order, can make a huge impact to your bottom line. For example, with endpoint devices, have your customers thought about hardware and software options to protect their new investment in technology? Will the customers’ employees be traveling, and what might those employees need to go along with each purchase, to facilitate its use, connection to power, protection, and/ or convenience?  And what about software to allow the customer to stay ahead of critical needs like cybersecurity threats, or routine duties like managing employee passwords or Microsoft 365 accounts?
