“After seven years, SYNNEX Corporation is prouder than ever of how our associates and business partners, along with local organizations and individuals, have united in the spirit of charitable giving to make significant changes in young lives within our community through these four highly deserving charities,” said Larocque. “While I am honored to receive this prestigious recognition, this effort would not be possible without their time and energy. It takes an extremely dedicated, hard-working team to raise this amount of money year after year.”
Community events in 2017 included the SYNNEX Share the Magic Day at the Greenville Drive, SYNNEX Annual Charity Golf Tournament, Comedy for Cause at The Greenville Comedy Zone, a jewelry showcase at Hale’s Jewelers and a book signing by esteemed architect Keith Summerour. With the help of SYNNEX Share the Magic in 2017:
- A Child’s Haven decreased its dependency on diminishing government funds allowing them to serve more young children suffering from trauma or developmental delays. Additionally, it allowed their parents to receive necessary therapeutic interventions. A Child’s Haven provides therapeutic intervention and prevention services for developmentally delayed, abused and neglected children ages 12 weeks to 5 years in Greenville County. The organization is dedicated to transforming the lives of these young children and providing support and education for their families. They provide hope to families in challenging situations and give them the tools they need to look beyond their current circumstances to a brighter future.
- Clement’s Kindness provided Upstate hospitals with critical facility upgrades that directly serve thousands of children impacted by pediatric cancer and blood disorders in addition to providing over $935,000 in direct financial assistance and programs to the families. Clement’s Kindness Fund for the Children helps address the medical, psychological, social, emotional and financial needs of Upstate families impacted by pediatric cancer and serious blood disorders. The fund also provides financial support to the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center and the Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center AYA Program which directly impacts the patients and their families.
- Make-A-Wish South Carolina granted 184 wishes last year, averaging a wish every forty-eight hours. Make-A-Wish believes hope is medicine, and their mission is to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes provide wish kids with hope, renewed energy and strength – aiding them in facing their conditions and in healing. The transformational experience of a wish also unites communities and brings families closer together. As one of 62 Make-A-Wish chapters across the U.S., the South Carolina chapter has been granting wishes for local kids with life-threatening medical conditions since 1984. The chapter has never turned away a qualified child.
- Pendleton Place provided residential and family-based services to 1,285 abused, neglected, and at-risk children in the Upstate community. In addition, hundreds of families benefited from the work accomplished through three key programs: the Assessment Center, Connections Count and Smith House. Pendleton Place offers programs that protect, equip, and heal vulnerable children, young adults, and families. Pendleton Place strengthens children while rebuilding families because it is their goal for each child to have a stable home environment and a bright future.
