“Networking is a critical piece of my job. I met SYNNEX’ April Petty, Sr. Director of Field Account Executives at a Symantec event 2 years ago. Since meeting her, I’ve bought over $4M from SYNNEX”

The Five Values of Networking

Opportunities: Every time you leave the house or enter a building, you have the chance to meet different people.  You never know who you might meet or what they might have to offer. Take a chance, see what’s out there, and meet vendors, customers, SYNNEX associates from other areas of the business. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Exposure: Is there ever a time you needed a second opinion to successfully implement a business plan?  Communicate with your peers; they might talk with people outside the circle, inevitably pulling them into the fray. This can only have positive results, considering the fact that if some is good, more is better.

Contacts and Relationships: It is not so much who you are, but who you know. Strengthening existing relationships and forming new ties through communication opens doors. It’s a small industry and the more you communicate with your broad network, the more doors that will open to you.

Common Ground: People enjoy the company of like-minded people. Moreover, common interests are a surefire incentive for interaction and make it easier overall for people to come together.

Learning: When people gather, inevitably information and ideas are exchanged. It’s important to master your own job skills while learning the additional skills required to advance to a more challenging position (if that is your goal). You never know what concepts you may encounter, so never forget that knowledge is power.
