When the people around us are happy and healthy, we’re all better off. This notion fuels our commitment to health and wellness in our workplaces, as well as our philanthropic endeavors in the communities where we live and work. As part of our living pillar, we support a range of initiatives that reflect our values and allow us to make a difference. Thanks to this philosophy and our associates around the world, we continue to give back in ways that matter and demonstrate how we care for our people and our communities. Here are some ways in which we’re living lives that reflect our values:
Work Environment
At SYNNEX, we want our associates to enjoy coming to work—which is why we work diligently to create workplaces that are welcoming and respectful. This starts with a Code of Ethical Business Conduct, which outlines behavioral expectations, policies, applicable laws, and guidelines for how associates should represent themselves in our workplaces.
To foster Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, we celebrate the diversity of our associates, customers, and vendors. These differences enrich our performance and provide us with a significant competitive advantage in the global marketplace. That’s why we’re serious about preserving everything that makes our associates unique by providing equitable employment opportunities, supporting those with disabilities, and fostering a corporate-wide culture that is inclusive, respectful, and free from harassment.
In North America, we also offer a range of wellness programs designed to make our workplaces healthier by providing associates with access to annual health fairs, in-office flu shot programs, discounted gym memberships, wellness-focused Lunch & Learns, and healthy options in our vending machines. Many of our offices also partake in healthy competition through wellness-focused challenges such as the Fit Challenge, the Walk Challenge, and the Great American Smoke-Out.
Community Giving Back
Our associates love giving back to the communities in which they live and work—whether through monetary donations, volunteer efforts, or fundraising. Some of these causes include:
- Our Community Involvement Committee—which is 100% driven by our associates—identifies a vast range of community engagement opportunities, allowing us to extend our philanthropy to diverse causes and continents. In Canada, one of those causes includes Kids Help Phone, where all seven SYNNEX locations raise funds for a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week hotline whose trained, professional counselors answer the calls of kids with any problem, large or small.
SYNNEX associates participate in various fundraising events throughout the year.
SYNNEX Share the Magic —an annual fundraising initiative in Greenville, United States that provides funding for Upstate South Carolina children and youth that are facing life-threatening illnesses, abuse, neglect, or developmental delays. Since 2011, the program has raised more than $14 million USD for four children’s charities: Clement’s Kindness, A Child’s Haven, Pendleton Place, and Make-A-Wish Foundation, South Carolina. Varnex Gives Back Our Varnex reseller community always precedes its semi-annual conference with a fundraising event in the host city. Called Varnex Gives Back, the initiative invites all attendees—including SYNNEX resellers, vendors, and SYNNEX associates—to volunteer their time at local charities across North America. We are proud to participate in a program that not only benefits the communities where we host our conferences, but also builds on our strong business relationships with our valued partners.
-
SYNNEX F2F stands for Friend-to-Friend, Female-to-Female, and Face-to-Face and unites women in North America’s IT industry through professional education and personal growth. It also has a philanthropic component aligned with our membership’s vision to “inspire others by actions.” Rather than supporting one single charity, SYNNEX F2F partners with our Community Involvement Committee to support a range of philanthropic causes.
In addition to our local endeavors, SYNNEX is also a proud supporter of the TriCity Food Bank (CA, United States), the March of Dimes (United States), and Susan G. Komen charity (United States). In North America, our associates participate in various food drives, toy drives, clothing drives, team sponsorships (United States), the Canadian Computer Charity Golf Classic (Canada), and disaster relief efforts (global).
Health and Fitness
In our experience, healthy workplaces are happy workplaces. That’s why health and fitness is an integral component of our company culture. Some programs we support in various locations across North America include healthy eating initiatives that feature healthy options in our vending machines and nutrition-focused webinars, corporate wellness bonuses for associates who lose weight or stop smoking, flu shot clinics for our associates in Canada and the United States, annual health and wellness fairs at some of our locations, and blood drives.
Non-Discrimination Policy on Company Philanthropy
SYNNEX will not support any organizations, which in their constitution or practice, discriminate against a person or group on the basis of race, color, religion, gender (sex), gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, national origin, ethnicity, genetic status, ancestry, marital status, age, physical or mental disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. This is also reflected in our Code of Ethics.
